My Journey with the Galveston Diet
The book helps, but it’s just one piece of the puzzle.
Here’s my menopausal story and symptoms and below is what I’m doing about it.
My clothes don’t fit
I’ve got 20-25 pound to lose. Nothing in my closet fits, in this in-between phase, I don’t want to buy all new clothes – but I did treat myself to a few goodies: A flowy inexpensive cotton (breathable!) dress, new perfume, stylish (no heel) boots, a handbag and a necklace that makes me smile.
I wake up in the middle of the night with hot flashes
The Galveston Diet eating plan should naturally help with my hot flashes by focusing on better nutrition and regular exercise. However, they still happen. Every night. I’m definitely on the lookout for a quicker fix to get some relief. I’ve heard good things about Black Cohosh, but honestly, I’m not impressed—it hasn’t worked for me, and I won’t be reordering once my current bottle runs out.
I’m also trying this menopausal lotion – I’ve had it for a few days. It may be taking the edge off. However, I’m beginning to think I just need HRT and need to talk to my doctor.
My knee is swollen and my joints and body aches
I started seeing a PT and thru muscle building exercises, scraping and a cortisone shot (September 18th) to my knee, I’m on a better road. The cortisone shot is a mask. However, it feels so much better now that the swelling is down that while it’s active – I plan to build muscle, lose some weight and hope the swelling does not come back!
I wake up with leg cramps
I knew this was due to hydration. I tried the liquid IV and loved it, but it full of sugar. I noticed the LMNT stuff and thought, “That’s expensive, I bet I could make it” This is my DIY solution. No more leg cramps, yay!
I’m weak!
I don’t know what to eat
